I was one of those kids that would record songs on cassette tapes off the radio and had music on vinyl and 8 track tapes. recently I started compiling a playlist of my favorite music on amazon prime music. I wasn’t paying the extra fee so I could only skip a few at a time and they were inserting songs I didn’t want to hear. I probably had about 300 songs on the playlist at that point and they were repeating a lot of songs on my playlist. So I bit the bullet and paid the extra $10/month for the pay service and compiled 25 playlists. about half have 50 songs on each and the other half have 30+ songs on each. That’s over 1000 songs. I started to think about making a list of my 10/25/50 favorite songs. When I started going through the playlists I tried to limit each artist/band to one song. I could easily have at least 30 beatles songs on a longer list. So here is the list of favorite songs (in no particular order) I made limiting each artist/band to one song. It’s about 75-80 songs. Yeah, I’m old af.

January 23, 2024 at 7:43 am #14644Lots of things I like on your list james.
January 24, 2024 at 2:10 am #14649For fuck’s sake James, “favorite” usually indicates one. 😉 Some that I like there too. Seriously, some good stuff there.
Not being the most technically inclined bloke so not sure if this would cause the site difficulties, but on a forum I was on years ago they had this thread called “Song of the Day” where someone would just post a YouTube link to a song they like. Would be fun if we could do that here.

January 25, 2024 at 2:53 am #14652Well, let’s give it a go. I’ve been streaming The Wonder Years (which I have to say I hadn’t seen since I was a kid and the show is quite good) and the show’s soundtrack is great if you like late 60s/early 70s music. This one was in one of the episodes (it’s also in The Graduate) and it brought a tear to my eye:
January 25, 2024 at 4:19 am #14653Great music, guys!
Any Doors fans in the house? This is one my dad used to play all the time and I grew an affinity for as a result of
January 25, 2024 at 4:45 am #14654Great choice Kawai! I’m a HUGE Doors fan. “Roadhouse Blues” is arguably my favorite “hit” of theirs.
Here’s one of their lesser known tracks, from the same album, that I really like:
January 25, 2024 at 8:44 pm #14659Nice list, James! Real classics there. My fav list would include a combination of jazz and goth tracks… and maybe a few Michael Jackson songs.
January 25, 2024 at 9:54 pm #14660Love S&G and the Doors. Love them !
I’ll add this :January 25, 2024 at 11:29 pm #14661Most genres of rock and metal
Some of my all-time favorites:
Watch till the end.
Adding a choir to this just elevates even more
January 25, 2024 at 11:32 pm #14662Then some random songs from other genres:
January 26, 2024 at 5:12 am #14663Nice one E, one of their best.
Xavi, post a track a day. I’m only so familiar with Jazz and Goth.
ProPain, metal isn’t my thing, but that Paulo Nutini track is more to my liking.
Since I was having trouble deciding yesterday and there are more Doors fans that I expected, I’ll add my other favorite “deep cut” from them:
Where as “Land Ho” features a bit more Krieger’s guitar work I feel as though this one has more of Ray Manzarek’s influence.
Tomorrow I’ll post something other than The Doors.
January 26, 2024 at 11:51 pm #14669BRB falling in love with PP’s Gojira mention ❤️
January 27, 2024 at 5:33 am #14675Arguably my favorite band and arguably my favorite album:
Perhaps doesn’t entirely exhibit the sound of The Clash, but a great track nonetheless.
January 27, 2024 at 7:35 am #14676Love them!
