BRB falling in love with PP’s Gojira mention ❤️

There’s more from where that came from 😜

Saw then live a few years ago in Paris. High-fived the drummer lol. One of my favorite bands of all time.

      I’ll post more later…

I haven’t listened to these guys in quite some time. When the record came out I thought they were pretty good.

Arguably my favorite band and arguably my favorite album:

Perhaps doesn’t entirely exhibit the sound of The Clash, but a great track nonetheless.

My cousin got to see them live in Oakland, CA at the Coliseum. I was visiting that weekend and he was feeling guilty because he didn’t get a ticket for me. He said the concert was wild. He had asthma and just a couple of songs into the set he had to make his way to the back of the venue to be able to breath. In the movie “Moneyball” there’s a scene where you can see the concert poster behind Billy Beane’s desk. He had their records (vinyl) so I got to listen to them and they have been one of my favorites ever since.

I haven’t really heard more than a few tracks, but despite the pretty blatant “homage” to Led Zeppelin (who I’ll get to one of these days) I like what I’ve heard. Need to hear more though.

Fir, kind of funny you posted that Greta Van Fleet performance from SNL. I was trying to find the a video on YouTube of The Clash doing “Straight to Hell” from SNL and couldn’t find it so I went with “Train in Vain”.

Sadly I was too young to ever see them live. Closest I got was Big Audio Dynamite opening for U2 during their Achtung Baby tour. “Should I Stay or Should I Go” stood out, but I didn’t really know The Clash yet.

We’ll get a little closer to current today. I liked them when they landed it big, but apart from the first album didn’t listen to more than the hits. Then lost track of them a bit and so I missed on out on this one for a few years, but love this track.

We’ll get even more “current” today with my favorite “current” artists in Fleet Foxes. They’ve had an incredible run thus far without a single bad album. I saw them when they toured for their first full length album. If you like folk you’ll probably like them, but they’re much more than just that. Here’s one of their early tracks:

Great choice Kawai! I’m a HUGE Doors fan. “Roadhouse Blues” is arguably my favorite “hit” of theirs.

Here’s one of their lesser known tracks, from the same album, that I really like:

This whole album is pretty much my childhood. Great post, BG!

Not the best band from the Manchester area, but one of them and definitely better than Oasis if you ask me. Curious what they would have done without that first hiatus.

Not sure how I left the Godfather of Soul out of my favorites. Here he is in 2004. He left us two and a half years later.

My father is always amazed that I know my fair share of music from the 60s and 70s. He’s more a 50s guy himself and Buddy Holly was always his favorite. Anyway, he’s probably most amazed that I know more Everly Brothers tunes than he does. The Everlys are one of my favorites and a big influence on a lot of bands. As successful as they were, I just wonder if they could have been a bit more if the music scene hadn’t changed and some personal life issues hadn’t got in the way, and yet they’re one of the most influential acts ever.

First track has one of their biggest hits, but the second track is arguably my favorite from them. Don’t get me wrong, I love the first track as well. Backing band are The Crickets, Buddy Holly’s Crickets shortly after he’d died.

Adding the studio version for some of the instrumentals.

QUIZ, and not cheating, much to my surprise the Everlys are not the most successful duo. Do you know who is?

Took me a while to give Bruce a shot, but glad I did. Too bad I never saw him live though. This one isn’t my favorite track, but one of them:

This is a fantastic march. Although it wouldn’t surprise me if the Nazis bastardized it, it was written by Carl Teike in 1889.
I was in high school band for a year but never marched. I asked the instructor if we could do this one and he flatly refused.

Not much to say about this one. First heard it in Goodfellas and then later in life learned about Harry Nilsson. So a little Nilsson Schmilsson today:

Bowie is also one of my favorite artists. Tough to choose a favorite track from him, but this one is definitely in the running.
