One of my absolute favorite films is “The Bridge on the River Kwai”. When the captured British soldiers march into the Japanese prison camp whistling the Colonel Bogey march always gives me chills.
Here’s a pretty cool version of the Colonel Bogey march. Not at all what I was expecting when I clicked on this.

February 14, 2024 at 4:48 am #14948My season
February 14, 2024 at 4:59 am #14951I don’t know how I had never heard of this band. I must have been under a rock.
February 14, 2024 at 6:16 am #14954I used to have a side gig driving uber/lyft. I guess CCR came on the radio and my passenger brought up the “southern” bands like CCR. I said CCR isn’t a southern band, they’re from California. He swore up and down they were from the south and would not believe me. I just said when you get a chance, look it up.
Hard to blame someone for thinking that. So many reasons why you might. I know I was surprised when I first found out they were from California.
On a side note, your story reminded me of that scene from The Big Lebowski where he’s in that cab and goes off about The Eagles.
February 14, 2024 at 6:20 am #14955Well if we’re going with tracks that sum up our season, I’ll go with this one. Indeed, in the time of chimpanzees I am a monkey. Beck’s had a pretty crazy career when you look at his catalogue and consider he went from this track to a lot of other sounds.
February 14, 2024 at 11:46 pm #14963This is kinda interesting. The Beatles wrote songs that they gave to other artists and didn’t record themselves. In 1994, an Australian Beatles tribute band named The Beatnix released an album of 19 songs that were written by The Beatles but recorded by other artists. The album was called “It’s Four You”. The CD is available on eBay for $30 plus shipping and I was very tempted to buy it.
February 15, 2024 at 1:37 am #14970This would probably be great while lying in a bean bag chair, wearing headphones and puffing on some ganja. Unfortunately I could only do one out of three.
February 15, 2024 at 2:17 am #14972Come get your Ganja music. Get it while it’s hot.

February 15, 2024 at 5:36 am #14980Another tough choice with the catalog they have. Led Zeppelin is another one of those bands that did so much in short period of time. Probably not the best song for a “Happy” Valentine’s Day, but always loved this one.
February 16, 2024 at 7:25 pm #14997Not the same, but Zizou posting that Stevie Ray Vaughn clip got me thinking about this.
February 17, 2024 at 5:21 am #15002February 18, 2024 at 3:55 am #15012Nice one James.
I have to say this thread has me mixing up what I’m listening to of late and I’ve been meaning to get to this one. I know the day of the week, the approximate time of day and exactly where I was driving the day I first Neko Case and it was a track off this album. Album as a whole still really holds up strong for me to this day. Saw her live when she toured for it as well. A real mix of rock, country, gospel, 50s, 90s, harmonies, etc. Still one of my favorite albums. Pretty sure the keys man for The Band played on this album as well.
February 19, 2024 at 7:07 am #15029Tonight was the finale of True Detective Season 4 and… well, let’s just say there were a couple of covers of songs I like that I noticed during the series. Here’s one of, and another Swedish artist on my list, Lykke Li.
