So FM25 is canceled.
How are we moving forward?February 7, 2025 at 5:58 am #19810Ideally, they’d release a new DB for 24 with updated ratings.
Somehow I doubt it.February 7, 2025 at 6:49 am #19811Will there be an FM24 update with 2024/25 season data?
“No. As we said in October when the game was delayed, this is a substantial undertaking and would divert critical resources away from the development of the next release which requires our full focus. “
February 7, 2025 at 7:20 am #19812Shit.
Maybe someone will make one and we can all agree to use it?February 7, 2025 at 12:28 pm #19813FFFFFFUUUUCCKKKKKK
Hopefully some nerds in the community will be up for updating the ratings but don’t know how they’ll manage especially with the hidden attributes, etc.
Is there a chance we delay promoting U21s until FM26 (cutoff year would be 2023)?

That makes sense.
I would suggest we do a mixed squad season like we did once in the past, but make it two tiers instead of one.
February 8, 2025 at 2:49 am #19817I wish they would worry less about graphics and whatever and just focus on the database and keep moving forward.
February 8, 2025 at 5:28 am #19818Kevin Chapman is an Englishman who is YouTube FM content creator and uses other platforms as well. He has been successful enough that he was able to make playing FM his real job. So you can imagine this development will hit him in the wallet.
Here is his take on the announcement.February 8, 2025 at 5:55 am #19819I’m torn on what we should do.
I think some of us planned with promotions in mind. And the mercato too.February 8, 2025 at 5:57 pm #19821The writing was on the wall the whole time. Massive disappointment. We’ll have some ideas and possible scenarios in the coming weeks. Feel free to keep up the convo.
February 8, 2025 at 6:46 pm #19823Ideally IMO, if we find a very very good DB with updated ratings (not easy to get when most are ignoring smaller leagues) and new players, we’d be in better shape to do as usual but with FM24 engine instead.
That way, it doesn’t ruin the plans of everyone.
If we can’t find a decent DB, should we use the current one and do a season II ?February 8, 2025 at 8:22 pm #19824We could do a double-year promotion (2003 and 2004 born are both promoted) at the end of FM26 (if that even happens), but it would suck if we weren’t able to get our teams as planned. I’d personally like to have a proper year with Sesko, Colwill, Urbig and Chukwuemeka with updated ratings. It might screw with our plans in the next couple of transfer windows.
Oh and having a redo of the Premiership season without losing KDB and Leao for 2/3rds of the season would be nice lol
February 8, 2025 at 8:32 pm #19825Sesko is a 2003 IIRC so in my scenario he’d be U21 eligible.
Agreed though they need updated ratings (as I said we need to find the right DB).February 9, 2025 at 5:57 am #19826The more I think about it the more I feel as though we simply proceed as normal and have yet another season with FM24. Maybe, just maybe find a DB update, but how good it might is would be anyone’s guess. Apart from a rule change I was going to suggest privately irrespective of this news, the only rule I would think could be tweaked would be allowing more “not in FM24” U21 players and even then I wouldn’t have too many more slots added.
February 9, 2025 at 7:32 am #19827Some of us have planned on FM ratings bumps (for example on my team, Yoro, Doue, Ben Seghir, Akliouche, Cherki…). So it’s tough to play another season with current ratings.
But yes the problem is finding the right DB. -
